Bird predation causes major economic losses in vineyards by reducing yields (5–30%), lowering grape quality, and increasing costs. Damaged grapes are prone to mold and fermentation issues, leading to price downgrades or rejection.

LY Laser has agreed a pilot with a large wine producer in the North-West of China to keep birds away from grapes during harvest time. It is believed that there is anywhere between 10-15% loss of value in grapes due to birds.

LY Laser AI will be deployed in numerous areas of the vineyard to identify key times where birds are damaging grapes at the Vineyard, and a specialized laser will be developed to combat these problems.
